OPPORTUNITY
A beverage manufacturer needed a security solution for several distribution centers located in the northeastern United States.
PROBLEMS AND CONCERNS
The client was suffering heavy losses from fully loaded tractor-trailers being stolen from sites, emptied of their contents and abandoned, as well as frequent vandalism. Traditional security solutions were ineffective, because each site had several authorized pick-ups on a daily basis, making it difficult to distinguish between incidents of theft and normal, day-to-day operational activity.
SOLUTION
Using various technologies and video analytics, Viewpoint installed cameras at all locations and programmed highly customized rules for alarm generation. The systems were programmed to trigger alarms only if certain vehicles were moved, and only in a specific direction of travel.
RESULTS
Prior to the installation of the monitoring equipment, each location was experiencing, on average, about one theft per month. Since Viewpoint has been providing monitoring services, zero thefts have occurred and instances of vandalism have been eliminated.
